My name is José Amezquita Morales and I am one of the new Outreach Specialists with The Ring of Democracy. I am a first generation College student with my Bachelor's Degrees from UC Davis in Psychology and Political Science - Public Service! I have always had the goal of returning to my community with what I learned at UC Davis to help uplift and support my community in Sacramento.

I strive to boost civic engagement throughout the different historically marginalized communities in Sacramento. I believe by doing so we can create a positive and meaningful impact that can change Sacramento for the better. With higher civic engagement by all groups can lead us to create a more equitable society. I know that that work can be accomplished here with The Ring of Democracy. I am excited for this opportunity and I am ready to get to work!

The daughter of immigrants from Nicaragua, Scarlette began her social justice advocacy career over fifteen years ago with inspiration from survivors of abuse and neglect within the foster care system. After several years of working in business management, Scarlette was emboldened to volunteer on political campaigns and to work as a lead regional canvasser and recruiter for one of the closest congressional races in the country.

Scarlette eventually became a Project Director at a 501(c)3 non-profit and happily spends her time empowering voters locally and nationwide through phone-banking and canvassing, meeting with lawmakers, coordinating local protests and marches, participating on local non-profit boards, and working with national non-profit organizations. Scarlette is excited to continue empowering historically marginalized people through her role as an Outreach Specialist at The Ring of Democracy.

Volma Volcy is a fervent community leader with over 15 years experience working in community, labor and the non-profit world. As a non-profit executive, he has a goal of building and training 50,000 community leaders from disadvantaged communities to step into the ring of democracy and into their leadership.

Stacey brings over 10 years of experience working in public health, community engagement and management. Stacey strongly believes in its mission and wants to serve to empower members of her community. 

As a Haitian immigrant, being able to empower marginalized people in the community is very important to her and she knows she can do that with the Ring of Democracy.
