As a partner assisting with the efforts of the California Mortgage Relief Program (CMRP), we at The Ring of Democracy provided assistance to help you determine if you are eligible for the program, provide in-person or virtual application assistance, or answer questions you have about the program. This program was created to help families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic who had fallen behind on their mortgage and/or property tax payments get back on track.
What is the California Mortgage Relief Program?
Homeowners who have fallen behind on making their mortgage payments received assistance from this state program to help them catch up! The program, or CMRP, covered partial claim second mortgage or loan deferral, past-due mortgage payments, and/or past due reverse mortgage payments of up to $80,000 per household and past-due property tax of up to $80,000.
Qualifications:

Own and live in a single-family home, condo, permanently affixed manufactured home or property with up to four units; and
-
Meet income requirements; and
-
Be behind 2+ payments on your mortgage, reverse mortgage, partial claim/loan deferral as of March 1st, 2023; or
-
Be behind on 1+ property tax payments as of March 1st, 2023; or
-
Have a reverse mortgage and owe your service for past due property tax and/or insurance; and
-
Have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
