Sacramento, Calif. (May 1, 2026) - The Ring of Democracy joined hundreds of Sacramentan union members and community members on May 1st, International Workers’ Day. In honor of a massive community action taken 20 years ago, organizations across Sacramento participated in ‘A Day Without Immigrants.’ Crowds walked to the John Moss Federal building from two different locations across the day to protest the attacks that ICE has committed on immigrant workers.
The program brought out labor officers, community leaders, and local representatives to rally the crowd and call for ongoing efforts to protect all workers. By the end of the day, artists led by Dave Solnit had created a large street mural of the words, “Workers Over Bilionaires.” Marchers came together to form six letters that could be seen from overhead, "ICE OUT."
