Natomas' Measure L Commissioners Host Crucial Townhall on $8-$10 Million Sacramento Children's Fund

Sacramento, Calif. (July 15, 2024) - Sacramento residents are invited to shape the future of youth programs as Measure L Commissioners and partners host a townhall meeting on the Measure L Sacramento Children's Fund on July 16th, 2024.


The event, hosted by Measure L Commissioners, Gina Richardson (District 1) and Volma Volcy (District 3), in partnership with The Ring of Democracy, Stanford Settlement, Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association (GNNA), and the City of Sacramento, will take place at the South Natomas Community Center on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Community members will have the opportunity to provide input on priority areas, goals, outcomes, and fund allocation for the $8-$10 million initiative.


"This townhall is a critical step in ensuring that the Measure L funds truly reflect the needs and aspirations of Sacramento's youth," said Volma Volcy, Measure L District 3 Commissioner. "We're eager to hear from our community and incorporate their voices into the final plan."


The meeting will feature presentations from Measure L Commissioners and open discussions where attendees can share their thoughts on how the funds should be utilized. Food and drinks will be provided to create a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.

Measure L, also known as the Sacramento Children's Fund, is a voter-approved initiative that allocates $$8-10 million annually to support children and youth services in Sacramento. The measure aims to enhance educational opportunities, improve public health and safety, and provide positive youth development programs. 


The participating Measure L Commissioners and their partners are committed to transparency and community engagement throughout the planning process for the Sacramento Children's Fund.
